Attention Cypress Baptist Church members:

Today, Bro. Jeff May and the deacons met to discuss resuming services in the church building. We will resume services on Sunday, July 26th at ~11:00 am~. Wednesday night services will resume the following Wednesday, July 29th at ~6:30 pm~. ***Also, this year the church's Homecoming is cancelled. ***

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and especially since Ouachita Parish is experiencing an influx of cases, we will require everyone to wear a facemask at all times during the service. We also ask that if you have been exposed to anyone with a confirmed case or you are experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19, please be respectful of your church family and do not attend.

We do realize that this causes an inconvenience to everyone and some people cannot wear masks due to health issues. If this is the case, we respectfully ask that you do not attend until further notice.

Facemasks will not be required for children under the age of eight years old.

Videos will continue to be posted to the church's Facebook page and Youtube channel, so you may connect with us should you need to remain at home.

HISTORY

This is our story.

We are a healthy congregation full of all age groups. Back in 1868, Cypress Baptist Church began from a group of believers meeting on Cypress Creek. In 1873, the church moved to its present day location. The buildings have changed through the years, but the people have the same hearts of love. Also, we believe that WE are the church. We believe we are to represent Christ to everyone we meet, wherever and whenever we are provided the opportunity.

It is our desire to intentionally and directly work alongside other churches in our community to take the message of Jesus out to meet people where they are. We are uniquely equipped and have the flexibility to support this effort as we are a debt-free congregation.

Our church family loves God and loves others while growing together through Christ. We are excited to get to know you. Please join us.

We believe that we were given a special purpose.

We believe that the Holy Spirit regenerates and forever indwells all Christians. At the same moment, Jesus Christ baptizes believers in the Holy Spirit to empower believers for ministry and witness. We also believe that signs and wonders, as well as the gifts of the Spirit described in the New Testament, are operative today and are designed to testify to the presence of the kingdom and to empower and edify the church to fulfill its calling and mission. These gifts are subject to judging and are to confirm, and never supersede, what has been revealed in the Bible. Joel 2:28; Matthew 3:11; John 1:12-13; Acts 1:8; Acts 8:14-16; John 7:37-39; Romans 8:9; 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 14:29; Eph 1:13-14; 5:18.

Our mission is very simple but very important.

To bring glory to God by making fully devoted followers of Christ who passionately love God and people. It is our Mission to bring everyone from our community together to better know Jesus. We understand that our calling is a difficult one and that most people may be frightend by it; however, we feel that we are called by a higher power. Just as it reads in Joshua 1:9 we should not be dismayed for the Lord our God is with us wherever we go. It is quite simply, go out, preach the gospel, love the broken, extend grace, and show the love of Jesus Christ.
